Hey everyone, I've been functioning on a project that involves both aluminum and stainless steel castings, and I've heard some concerns about galvanic corrosion. Has anyone here dealt with this situation before?

Coatings can undoubtedly help, but you have to make sure they're compatible with the two materials and the atmosphere they'll be exposed to. Have you considered using dielectric unions or insulating gaskets to physically separate the two metals?

That's an excellent point. Isolation is key when you're dealing with dissimilar metals. but it on top depends on the software. Are those castings going to be in a harsh surroundings, like saltwater, or more controlled conditions?

It's more of a controlled atmosphere, but nevertheless, I want to make sure we're taking the needed precautions. I'll look into dielectric unions and gaskets. Thanks for the suggestion!

another thing to deem is the layout of the assembly. Minimizing the make contact with region among the aluminum and stainless steel can reduce the risk of galvanic corrosion. Have you considered about adjusting the design to address this?
