Hey everyone! I've been thinking about switching to storing my olive oil in stainless steel containers rather glass or plastic. Has any individual else tried this? What are your thoughts on using stainless steel for olive oil storage?

I've read stainless steel can be great for preserving the freshness of oils because it's non-reactive. but I ponder if there are any downsides to it, like potential metallic taste or corrosion over period. Anyone seasoned those issues?

I've been using stainless steel containers for my olive oil meantime now, and I haven't noticed any metallic taste. however, I do make sure to have food-grade stainless steel containers to avoid any potential problems. So far, it's been working well for me!

That's excellent to know! I've been hesitant to switch to stainless steel because I was worried on taste contamination. But hearing your experience reassures me. Do you find that stainless steel affects the shelf life of the olive oil compared to more materials?

personally, I haven't noticed any difference in the shelf life of my olive oil since switching to stainless steel. I make sure to store it in a cool, dark area away from direct sunlight, which I assume helps preserve it no matter the container material s. but I'd love to attend if other people get had different experiences!

I've read that stainless steel containers are really good for blocking out light, which can help preserve the oil's quality. plus, they're more resilient and less likely to break compared to glass containers, which is a huge plus in my case. but I'm curious on whether there are any particular cleaning approaches you should use for stainless steel to keep it in good condition for storing olive oil.

That's an excellent point! I've found that using mild dish cleaning soap and warm water works effectively for cleaning stainless steel containers. I avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers to prevent scratching the area. It's also crucial to intensely dry the containers right after washing to prevent any water spots or rusting.

I've been using glass bottles for my olive oil because I was worried on any potential chemical leaching from more materials. But hearing about the benefits of stainless steel and how it's non-reactive is making me reconsider. Has anyone else created the switch from glass to stainless steel? What was your practice like?

It's interesting to attend everyone's perspectives on this! I've been employing plastic bottles for my olive oil, mainly for convenience and affordability. but now I'm starting to think about making the switch to stainless steel for the health and environmental benefits. Thanx for sharing your experiences, everyone!
