Longevity of Stainless Steel Horse Trough Casting A Discussion

i've been contemplating switching to stainless steel for my horse troughs, but I'm a little bit concerned on the initial cost compared to more materials like plastic or galvanized steel. Can anybody speak to the long-term cost-effectiveness of stainless steel troughs?
