Stainless steel sounds like a really good option for durability, but I've heard it can be heavier than more materials. Any person get practice with that?

I've utilised stainless steel receivers before, and while they are a little bit heavier, I found the added weight helps with stability and recoil reduction. Plus, the corrosion resistance is a tremendous bonus, specially if you're planning to use your rifle in harsh conditions.

That's a good position,. I'm definitely interested in the corrosion resistance aspect, especially if I'll be using my rifle outdoors much. But what about the machining process for stainless steel compared to other materials?

From what I've gathered, stainless steel can be more challenging to machine due to its hardness, which could potentially improve manufacturing costs. However on the flip facet, once it's machined, stainless steel offers pretty good dimensional stability.

It depends on your priorities, I suppose. If durability and corrosion resistance are leading concerns for you, then stainless steel may possibly be worth the further effort and cost. but if you're more concentrated on keeping mass to a minimum or if expense is a significant factor, you might want to explore other materials.
