I have seen both melonite gas tubes and stainless steel options for my Ar-15. Any opinions on which one is better?

I personally prefer stainless steel. It's been good to m'and I've never had any issues with it functioning properly.

Interesting! I've always used melonite gas tubes because I've found them to be harder and more resistant to heat. Any thoughts on this?

I agree, I used both and melonite gas tubes has a high resistance to erosion. But stainless steel is more commonly used so you'll have easier time finding parts and services for it.

That's a good point,. I guess it all comes down to what you need your Ar-15 for. But to be on a safer side, maybe starting with stainless steel is a good idea given its reliability and availability.
