Hey guys, I'm about to purchase a new grill and I'm torn between stainless steel and cast iron grates. What's your take on this?

Hello,. I'd vote for cast iron. It retains heat better than stainless steel and as a result, it gives you these beautiful perfect grill marks.

Interesting,. I've always preferred stainless steel because it's easier to clean and maintain compared to cast iron which requires a bit more care.

I agree, I've been using stainless steel grill grates for years and haven't faced any durability issues.

That's valid,. But, in terms of taste, I find that cast iron grates tend to add more flavor to the food being grilled.

Yes, and also, keep in mind that though cast iron requires a bit of additional care, if maintained properly it can last for generations!
