I've done it a few times and it has always proven effective. 304 stainless steel is easy to work with due to its lower carbon content.

It's also about ensuring a proper finish. I've found that 304 steel has a pretty good surface finish after casting. It doesn't require much post-processing.

Agree. I've found that really handy. Plus, it has good temperature resistance which is perfect for grill casting.
